UTS OFFERS “CO2 NEUTRAL” REMOVALS

Climate change has consequences for everybody. As a leading organisation, UTS takes its social responsibility seriously and works actively on solutions contributing to sustainability and reducing CO2 emissions. UTS takes the initiative in its sector and has become the first CO2 neutral removals organisation in the Netherlands.

In order to achieve the goals of a “CO2 neutral” organisation and become more sustainable, we must focus on developing awareness and changing behaviour in our own organisation, among our own employees and business relations. To improve its green credentials, UTS plans to reduce and compensate its CO2 emissions.

UTS has had its Carbon Footprint calculated. This involves calculating CO2 emissions resulting from its activities on a yearly basis. The result is then recorded in an annual CO2 account which is audited by accountants Ernst & Young. The Carbon Footprint is compared with that of companies which have demonstrated their operational excellence in the Transport & Logistics sector and which can therefore be used as a norm. UTS plans to equal or even exceed this norm within a period of 3 years.

UTS is striving to achieve a 100% reduction in CO2 emissions until we can exceed or comply with the norm. As long as the reduction measures have not yet reduced emissions to the norm or below, UTS will compensate by investing in sustainability projects. This investment takes the form of purchasing “Gold Standard Label” certificates. “Gold Standard Label” is an organisation accredited by the World Wide Fund for Nature which ensures that the investments made by its certificate holders reach the right destination.

With UTS, your removal can be 100% “CO2 neutral”, thus making your own contribution to the sustainability of our environment!

You now have the opportunity to compensate for the CO2 emission of your removal. UTS has developed a model which determines the CO2 impact of your removal on the basis of the cubic metres and kilometres involved. The compensation amounts to an investment of 1% on the removal price, thus fully compensating the CO2 emission of your removal. As such, together with UTS you contribute to CO2 reduction and preservation of our climate.
